~Connect To The Literature~
Question #1: (What Do You Think?) How did you react to the advice given in each of these poems?
Answer: The way i reacted to the advice given in the poems were good, they made since and they probably really did help ther person.

~Think Critically~
Question #2: In "Seize the Day", why does the speaker advise Leuconoe to live for today?
Answer: The speaker advises Leuconoe to live for today in "Seize the Day" because the speaker is trying to say to just live your life for today and not worry about tomorrow until it gets here.

Question #3: In your own words explain what you think the speaker of "Better to live, Licinius,..." means by "golden moderation."
Answer: The speaker is saying that a man of golden moderation stays clear of stuff that may be trouble.

~Active Reading: Understanding Contrast~
Question #4: Review what you listed in your readers notebook. For each poem, decide which contrast is most effective in conveying an idea.
Answer: Whats is different that gets the point across is ones dealing with living today for today while the other one is dealing with trouble.

Question #5: To what extent do these poems both teach and delight? Support your answer with details from each poem.
Answer: They both teach and delight in many different ways.

~Extend Interpretations~
Question #6: (The Writer's Style) Writers often use descriptive words and phrases to re-create sensory experiences for the reader. Such words and phrases are known as imagery. Each imagery appeals to one or more of the five senses. Cite examples of images in each of these poems. Which image do you find particulary effective?
Answer: The images in these poems are wonderful, i could see in real life where they would show alot of the senses. I think the first picture in "Better to live, Licinius,..." shows the most descripition.

Question #7: (Comparing Texts) Which poem do you think offers better advice and why?
Answer: I think that Seize the Day gives better advice because to me the saying "live life for today and not tomorrow is important"

Question #8: In "Seize the Day," the speaker says that it is important to "trim your hopes to fit your limits" (lines 6-7). Do you agree? Use examples from your own experience to support your opinion.
Answer: Not Really that might not always be true because your sit limits for yourself but sometimes your hopes are different.
